Entity identification is a domain name that is based on your company name, i.e. TomDickandHarryLaw.com, a lawfirm specializing in music issues for record companies, publishers, performers, etc., or JapaneseMotorcycles.com, a company that makes and sells motorcycles designed for racing.

Intuitive search is a domain name that naturally comes to mind when a potential customer/client is seeking you out, i.e MusicAttorneys.com, or RacingBikes.com.

Why do we need to know this? Because you have to ask yourself this question: "What is the purpose of my web site?" If your answer is "because my teenage son says it would be cool to have one, and I want him to think I'm cool" then you can stop reading right now. Just flush your money down the toilet by putting up a lame site that accomplishes nothing, tell your son about it, and then go back to business as usual. However, if your intention is to get some return on investment, then keep reading.

Still with me? Good! Now let's ask and answer some important questions.
      1. Which is better for my web site, and entity identification domain name, or an intuitive search domain name? The answer is most likey BOTH. Of course this will depend on a number of subjective factors.
      2. Can I have more than one domain name for my site? YES, you can have as many as you like. Many major corporations use numerous domain names to attract visitors.
      3. Can I have more than one domain name in either category? YES. For example IBM could have IBM.com and IntlBusinessMachines.com. Or General Motors could have Cars.com and Trucks.com.
      4. Why would I want more than one domain name? That depends on the nature of your business. You might want and need hundreds of domain names, such as a little company known as Disney has, or you might only want one or two. To make the proper decision requires analysis of your business purposes by someone who knows what factors to consider and how to weigh their value vs. cost.
      5. Do I have to have a different web site for each domain name? NO. You can have all of your domain names point to the same web site if you choose. Whether or not to use different content for different domain names is a strategic marketing question.
      6. Can I make these decisions myself? Of course you can. But while this isn't brain surgery, it can be an area where a bad choice can end up costing you a lot of extra expense and/or lost business. If your venture is important enough to you and your business that you want to take the necessary steps to maximize your success, you might want to consider using my services. I would be happy to help.
      7. How much does my particular situation impact on these issues? That's a great question. Unfortunately the answer can be complicated. Do you just want to get a domain name for your site as you envision it to be, or do you want to explore the many opportunities that await you on the internet that you may not even know exist? Every product or service is different, and has to be handled in its own unique way. Your potential for benefiting from a web site has to be analyzed and maximized. Taking the time to examine your options could open your eyes to business opportunities that never occurred to you before. Again, I would be happy to work with you if you think I can add value to your efforts.
